NCT’s Christmas funding boost: £596,000 for 36 churches across the UK

Churches and chapels in England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland are set to benefit from rescue funding of £596,000 from the National Churches Trust (NCT), while 11 of the churches being helped are on the Historic England ‘At Risk’ Register.

Scottish House Condition Survey 2015 out: CO2 emissions fall c.10% but disrepair unchanged

The Scottish House Condition Survey for 2015 has been published, with key findings including that the level of disrepair remained unchanged on the previous year and that carbon emissions for older properties (pre-1919) have decreased in the last year from 102 kg per square meter of floor area to 93 kg/m2 in 2015, a reduction of nearly 10%.

Babergh DC loses to parish council in High Court fight on AONB housing

The High Court has ruled in favour of East Bergholt Parish Council, finding that Babergh District Council’s (DC) decision to allow ten homes to be built in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) was flawed as it did not take account of the village’s needs – as set out in the Suffolk planning authority’s own local plan – and so quashed permission for the development.
