HE ‘Research Strategy’ accessible online: developing and funding research in the heritage sector

The Historic England (HE) Research Strategy is now available online, offering an overview of its approach to the heritage research carried out, supported or encouraged.

Steve Trow of Historic England writes:

I would like to draw your attention to a new publication from Historic England that I hope will be of interest to all those developing and funding research in the heritage sector.

The Historic England Research Strategy… gives an overview of our approach to the heritage research that we carry out, support or encourage others to undertake. It sets out the context and objectives for our work, and provides information for those looking to work with us to carry out research. It includes nine broad research themes that we see as key to the sector and which we have identified to help stimulate action.

The publication of our Research Strategy is the first step in providing updated information about our research effort. The next step, our Research Agenda, will comprise a broad set of topics that we believe will have a beneficial impact for the heritage sector. These will include a narrower and sharper set of research priorities that we will resource with staff or funding to support delivery of the current Historic England Corporate Plan.
