IHBC plays ‘Find the heritage’: ‘2018 will be the ‘Year of Engineering’
The UK Space Agency is joining forces with partners across government and industry to give thousands of young people inspiring experiences of engineering as part of a year-long campaign to tackle the engineering skills gap and widen the pool of young people who join the profession.

IHBC’s ‘Heritage from the doorstep’: Historic formerly listed footbridge at St Austell Railway Station will be removed
Cornwall Live has reported on how the station in St Austell was opened in May 1859 as part of the Cornwall railway, but residents have now lost their fight to protect one of Cornwall’s oldest railway station footbridges.

SPAB Technical Advice Line gives free advice on technical enquiries relating to old buildings
The SPAB’s advice line is a free and confidential service open to anyone with a technical enquiry relating to old buildings. Our helpline advisors are qualified building surveyors and architects who answer over 1 000 calls a year from building owners, professionals, contractors and others. The advisors can also draw on the support of the Society’s Technical Panel, a group recognised for their technical knowledge and experience in the field of building conservation.

Opening webpages for the IHBC’s 2018 School in Belfast – on June 21-23, exploring ‘Our Shared Heritage’ – have been launched, and now include the Bursaries applications advice page, guiding applicants on how best to shape and make their applications for the 5 Full Residential places and 11 Day School places on offer by the IHBC’s national body.

CPRE Kent legal victory saves priceless landscape at Dover
CPRE Kent has won a landmark victory at the Supreme Court, which overturned the decision by Dover District Council to grant planning permission for 521 houses and a retirement village in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty at Farthingloe.

Woodland Trust unveils plans for 50 million tree new Northern Forest
The Woodland Trust has announced together with The Community Forest Trust, a plan to create an exciting new Northern Forest that will comprise over 50 million trees over 25 years. It will stretch from Liverpool across to Hull with the M62 as its spine. This ambitious project has received Government backing.
