IHBC welcomes Appeal Court timely reaffirmation of legislation over policy
The IHBC has welcomed the recent Court of Appeal ruling, upholding a High Court ruling, that subordinates National Planning Policy Framework (NPPF) development presumptions to the statutory authority of an up-to-date local plan, as the NPPF is no more than ‘guidance for decision-makers, without the force of statute behind it’.

IHBC’s joint ‘Conservation Professional Practice Principles’ targets construction and development sectors on Designing Buildings Wiki
Practitioners from the widest construction and development sectors will access a key IHBC resource more readily as our new joint ‘Conservation Professional Practice Principles’ – co-authored with HTVF and the Civic Voice – has been posted on the IHBC’s Conservation Wiki, offering direct access to Designing Buildings Wiki’s 3 million users a year!

Vic Soc: Demolition of listed pump house would make a mockery of Hull’s maritime heritage
The Victorian Society (Vic Soc) reports that an important piece of Hull’s Victorian maritime heritage is at risk of demolition as the Grade II-listed pump house, one of only four buildings that are left standing at St Andrew’s Dock, would be demolished as part of a new planning application submitted to Hull council last month.
