IHBC CPD in Context: Violet Pinwill, woodcarver to Devon and Cornwall
2017 saw the 60th anniversary of the death of a woman whose career of more than 50 years as a woodcarver produced a body of work that can be seen in more than 300 churches in Devon and Cornwall.

UPVC windows on Boston, Lincs, Grade II listed building lead to £1,430+ fine from magistrates
A property owner in Boston, Lincolnshire, who fitted UPVC windows to a Grade II Listed Building (LB) without permission has been ordered to pay more than £1,430 by magistrates, while the case is currently being added to the IHBC’s Listed Buildings Prosecutions Database resource by its manager Bob Kindred.

New London Awards 2018 now open for entries – deadline 29 March
Now open for its eighth year, the New London Awards recognises the very best projects across 15 sectors of the built environment, and are the only London-wide awards for built and unbuilt projects, while the deadline for 2018 is 29 March.

British Islamic heritage celebrated by Historic England

London Central Mosque, Regent’s Park (Grade II*) and the Fazl Mosque, Southfields (Grade II) have been listed on advice from Historic England, and Britain’s first purpose-built mosque in Woking, Surrey has been upgraded to Grade I, while the Liverpool home of Britain’s first functioning mosque has been upgraded to Grade II*.

Gladstone’s Library: Architect-led Submissions sought for new building and redevelopment of GI building & landscape
Gladstone’s Library is seeking submissions from architect–led teams with exceptional design skills for a prestigious new building and re-development of the existing Grade I (GI) listed building and its landscape with a shortlist of five teams to be chosen by an Evaluation Panel for Gladstone’s living heritage project, closing 10 April.
