IHBC 2018 School Friend UAH launches Heritage Angel Awards for NI in Derry~Londonderry: closing 1 June
Ulster Architectural Heritage (UAH) – a friend of the IHBC’s 2018 Belfast School – has launched the 2018 Heritage Angel Awards for Northern Ireland in Derry~Londonderry, celebrating the unsung heroes of local heritage, and with applications and nominations open until Friday 1st June 2018.

Young person’s heritage manifesto launched on World Heritage Day
A manifesto has been launched by Edinburgh World Heritage (EWH) outlining steps necessary to ensure Scotland’s young people feel a stronger connection to the country’s heritage, with headlines guidance that includes:
- Have honest conversations about heritage and values
- Allow us to discover heritage for ourselves
- Don’t treat us like children
- Let us see what’s hidden
- We want to feel proud of the places where we live.

IHBC’s ‘Heritage from the doorstep’: Local students get hands-on at iconic Shrewsbury Flaxmill Maltings
Shrewsbury Colleges Group students have become the first to gain hands-on experience of traditional construction methods, as reported by Shropshire Live, part of a National Lottery-funded programme to plug England’s heritage skills gap, using 18th Century Shrewsbury Flaxmill Maltings as a site for hands-on learning.

New Welsh HE consultations include listed places of worship and scheduled monuments, closing 13 July
The Welsh Government has launched it’s third public consultation linked to the implementation of the Historic Environment (HE) (Wales) Act 2016, seeking views on a draft legislative order, on guidance for the management of certain listed places of worship in Wales and also thoughts on new guidance on the management of scheduled monuments.

Hidden heritage of burial grounds to be revealed by conservation charity Caring for God’s Acre… with HLF funding
Conservation charity Caring for God’s Acre, is set to put burial grounds on the heritage map, thanks to £586,700 National Lottery funding announced last January, as the Beautiful Burial Ground project will highlight the valuable buildings, landmarks and wildlife to which thousands of burial grounds across England and Wales are home.

Historic England (HE) maintains a searchable online database of appeal and call-in decisions relating to planning permissions affecting heritage assets and listed building consent with cases summarised using a standard list of search terms, for ease of use so searches can also be carried out by address, date or decision reference.
