The Heritage Lottery Fund is looking to recruit both committee chairs and members to help make decisions on heritage projects across England: two Chairs, one to lead the London committee and the other to lead the East Midlands committee; and at least six committee members to five committees across England – East of England, East Midlands, London, South East England and West Midlands, with online application materials will be available from 30 September.
HLF committees take decisions on all grant funding requests from £100,000 up to £2 million and provide a crucial local perspective to the HLF Board on larger grants and for targeted initiatives. Members meet people involved in heritage projects, represent HLF at openings and events and act as advocates for HLF in their locality.
Individuals need to have a broad appreciation of and enthusiasm for heritage and a commitment to promoting public understanding and enjoyment of it to the widest possible audience. An understanding of local issues and project development and delivery; an ability to think strategically and analytically; and good communication skills are all vital. The Chair posts also require leadership experience and the ability to be an effective ambassador for HLF.
