The new issue of Conservation Bulletin (Con Bull), English Heritage’s specialist journal, follows the theme of ‘Materials’ and is edited by IHBC member Chris Wood.
Features include:‘Integrating significance and fabric in local authority policy’, by IHBC Director Dr Seán O’Reilly; Work-based training in traditional building skills by Karen Houghton and Clara Willett; IHBC member Alison Henry on ‘Lime mortars: evolving policy and practice’, and ‘Mineral safeguarding: securing the supply of building and roofing stone’. The issue also contains an accessible introduction to the National Heritage Protection Plan (NHPP), the English Heritage-led forward planning framework for England’s heritage sector, by Barney Sloane.
As in every issue, anews update from EH is also included, with briefing notes on the recent collapse in LA conservation advisory capacity of 31% since 2006, as well as a legal update and reviews of a selection of EH’s exemplary publications on England’s architectural history.
