The Institute of Historic Building Conservation (IHBC) has launched a customised professional indemnity insurance scheme for conservation professionals. Fiona Newton, IHBC projects officer, who helped devise the scheme, says ‘While other policies are very broadly defined, many of our members feel the diverse insurance offerings available in the market are not entirely relevant to their conservation work. This policy will have at its core an appreciation of conservation work in relation to building, structures, areas, gardens and landscapes which are of architectural and historical interest. By joining together in such a scheme IHBC members can achieve not only bulk purchase discounts but enhanced cover.’
Developed in conjunction with Lockton insurance brokers, the bespoke policy will include a flexible and dedicated range of cover for the conservation professional and is now exclusively available to IHBC members.
