Council bosses are making the most of the ongoing closure of Albert Bridge to give the iconic structure a fresh coat of paint ahead of its planned 2027 reopening, reports the Hounslow Herald.
Hounslow Herald writes:
Albert Bridge was closed to motor vehicles on 7th February 2026 after a routine inspection identified a crack in a cast-iron component at one of its abutments. Engineers are carrying out a complex repair…
Rather than only repair… the council is taking the opportunity… to carry out additional works at the same time…
The council has committed up to £8.5 million to the full Albert Bridge repair… also submitted a bid to the Department… to help fund part of the work…
