IHBC responds to Levelling-up and Regeneration Bill consultation on implementation of plan-making reforms

The IHBC has submitted its response to the Levelling-up and Regeneration Bill consultation implementation of plan-making reforms.

Responding to the consultation IHBC makes the observation to the suggestion of templates to enable local planning authorities to prepare local plans ‘Local planning should be based on locally developed policies not centrally imposed development management policies’.

… the local planning system should not ‘be centralised…’

The IHBC writes:

…  the local planning system should not ‘be centralised and it essential for it to ….. recognise and respond to local circumstances……..The local dimension in planning is especially important in underperforming areas.’
