IHBC welcomes CHN’s ‘Birthday Month’ – From Local Action to COP31: ‘Join Culture for Climate’, launch 24/10

The Climate Heritage Network (CHN) has opened invitations to join in and help advance the experiences of CHN members and their communities as, to mark CHN’s birthday on 24 October, it is launching ‘Culture for Climate: CHN Birthday Month – From Local Action to COP31’.

CHN writes:

… We hope you will join us this October and help carry the experiences of CHN members and their communities from local action to COP31…

This October, we are inviting every Climate Heritage Network member to turn local action into part of a shared global movement.

To mark CHN’s birthday on 24 October, we are launching Culture for Climate: CHN Birthday Month – From Local Action to COP31, a network-wide initiative bringing together locally organised activities that demonstrate how arts, culture and heritage can contribute to climate action.

We invite you to organise an activity in your community during October. The format and scale are entirely up to you. What matters is using culture, arts or heritage to engage people with climate action and show what locally rooted, culture-based responses can look like.

Together, these activities will create a distributed global mobilisation leading from local action to COP31 in Antalya. The experiences and stories generated across the Network will help CHN demonstrate to climate decision-makers that culture is not peripheral to climate action, but an essential part of building participatory, resilient and lasting responses.

Members may also, entirely on a voluntary basis, donate all or part of the proceeds generated by their activity to CHN through our dedicated fundraising platform. Contributions will support CHN’s advocacy and presence at COP31. If you are unable to organise an event this October, you can still take part in the campaign by making a direct contribution through the fundraising platform and helping support CHN’s advocacy and presence at COP31.

How to take part:

  • Read the Toolkit with campaign information and communication guidance.
  • Organise an activity during October.
  • Register your event here.
  • If you wish, contribute through the campaign fundraising platform.

We will feature participating activities in a dedicated section of the CHN website and across CHN communication channels.
