… to enable senior leaders….in tackling the climate and nature emergencies…

Improvement Service writes:

The Climate Emergency Checklist is designed to enable senior leaders in local government and the public sector to assess their organisation’s maturity and capability in tackling the climate and nature emergencies.

The checklist offers a high-level assessment of where action is needed on embedding climate emergency (and nature) responses including adaptation and mitigation in public sector service planning and delivery. It is designed to equip leaders to understand legislative responsibilities and align with national and local policy developments while ensuring a just transition that delivers sustainable benefits for Scotland’s people and environment.

Staff from across IS edited, reviewed and helped to shape the development of the Climate Emergency Checklist, working collaboratively with all partners. We now have a key role to play in embedding its aims across our own organisation and in our ongoing transformation work with SOLACE and the wider local government sector, supporting council leaders and officers to use the Checklist effectively.
