ICON: Conservation Awards 2010


Icon (Institute of Conservation), the Anna Plowden Trust and the Digital Preservation Coalition have announced the winners of the 2010 Conservation Awards: ‘Valuing Excellence’.

The Anna Plowden Trust Award for Research and Innovation in Conservation was awarded to two projects this year – Tate AXA Art Modern Paints Project (TAAMPP) and Eura Conservation Ltd for the conservation of Edwardian tiled panels using a diamond wire saw.

The Digital Preservation Award, sponsored by the Digital Preservation Coalition, went to the MEMENTO Project: Time Travel for the Web – Old Dominion University & the Los Alamos National Lab, USA.

The Pilgrim Trust Award for Conservation was given to the Perry Lithgow Partnership for its conservation of the Hanbury Hall staircase wall paintings of c.1710 by Sir James Thornhill.

The Award for the Care of Collections went to PRIMROSE (Photographic Records in Museums: Re-Organisation, Storage and Environment) – Royal Albert Memorial Museum & Renaissance South West.

The Student Conservator of the Year Award was given to Simon Lambert and Cardiff University, for The carbon footprint of museum loans project.
