Plans to recast HCA

Housing minister Grant Shapps and Homes and Communities Agency (HCA) chief executive Pat Ritchie have announced plans to recast the HCA as a smaller organisation in line with Government moves to reduce public expenditure and the size of arms-length bodies.

The HCA’s running costs are being cut by half over two years. Key elements of the plans, which will be delivered by 2015, include: reducing the number of HCA directors from 12 to six, with the potential to reduce this further over time; and cutting from 17 to four the core HCA offices, with locations to be finalised within the broader Department for Communities and Local Government and public sector estate rationalisation programme.
