IHBC features ‘Heritage from the Global doorstep’: Harry Potter fans force relocation of £430m undersea cable towards Bronze Age burial to avoid Dobby’s ‘grave’

A power cable linking UK and Ireland now passes near Bronze Age human burial remains instead of fictional grave on Welsh beach, reports The Guardian.

The Guardian writes:

Harry Potter fans have forced a new multimillion-pound power cable between the UK and Ireland to be relocated after complaining it would desecrate the ‘grave’ of Dobby, a fictional elf…

Fans became aware of the plans after Ludlam pointed out where the 125-mile (200km) cable to County Wexford would go underground at Freshwater West during a BBC interview…

The firm then enlisted planners to find a new route that avoided the supposed grave… In the end… ‘we went quite close to some real Bronze Age remains, but we avoided Dobby’s grave’…’
