Onshore wind project rejected

Communities Secretary Eric Pickles has dismissed a recovered appeal over Cornwall Council’s refusal of a two-turbine wind project proposed for South Torfrey Farm, Golant, Fowey, in an area of outstanding natural beauty (AONB). The inspector who heard the appeal had recommended it should be refused. The minister agreed.

The SoS acknowledged that the wind scheme was beneficial on a number of counts but concluded these did not outweigh the harm to the scenic qualities and natural beauty of the AONB, the settings of Grade I and Grade II listed buildings and also the harm to a Scheduled Ancient Monument.
