IHBC digital media surge: twitter@4000; network @8000+!

The IHBC’s twitter feed has just reached passed the 4000 followers mark, representing a substantial expansion in its digital networks and services, as the core IHBC network surpasses 8000

IHBC’s Communications Secretary, Charles Strang, said: ‘It’s great that IHBC’s twitter following has broken through the 4K barrier in such a blockbuster style’.

IHBC Director Sean O’Reilly said: ‘This success is the fruit of a long and hard work by our staff and followers and, more recently in particular, the enthusiastic engagement of Alison McCandlish, working on the ground at our events – not least at our Derby membership support day, which was free to delegates, and our Annual School in Edinburgh.’

‘Our commitment to accessible digital platforms is going to continue, as we can use these resources to extend our reach far beyond specialist members, to guide clients, inspire users and inform volunteers.’

‘Alison’s work in creating ‘storify’ records of these events is the perfect demonstration of how our training and events – though profoundly specialist in their CPD objectives and technical details – can go hand in hand with accessible formats that allow for much wider engagement in conservation.  For heritage, more than any other sector, building bridges between specialist skills and local interests remains the greatest challenge, as well as our biggest opportunity, and I know the IHBC is up to the job’.

Alison McCandlish, NewsBlog author and social media consultant, said: ‘I’m absolutely delighted to see our social media network growing, and our followers on twitter reach 4000.’

‘Our followers are being treated to the latest conservation and heritage news as well as highlights of events and upcoming job opportunities.’
