Fewer new onshore wind farms are being approved in England following the publication of new guidelines on landscape, heritage and local amenities, Parliament was told this week.
The proportion of consents have fallen from 52 per cent to 36 per cent MPs learnt during oral questions to Communities and Local Government ministers on Monday.
Those were the figures quoted by Housing Minister Kris Hopkins when he responded to concern about the proliferation of wind farm schemes – and their visual impact – in Lincolnshire.
He said: ‘We are very clear about the need for councils to consider cumulative impacts, and our new planning guidance underlines the fact that they require particular attention.’
