ARB chief to leave

The Chief Executive of the Architects Registration Board (ARB), Alison Carr, is to join Institution of Engineering and Technology.

ARB writes:
After seven years as Registrar and Chief Executive of the Architects Registration Board (ARB), Alison Carr is leaving in February to join the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) as Director of Governance and Policy.

Commenting today, Beatrice Fraenkel, the Chair of the ARB said: ‘Speaking on behalf of the Board and in a personal capacity, I am sorry to see Alison go. During her tenure, we have modernised our services and created a more accessible Register, as well as taking on the role as the UK’s competent authority, helping to ensure the mobility of UK architects across Europe. Alison is a first-class professional and has led her staff team with aplomb and good humour. We wish her well in her new role.’

Alison Carr said ‘I have enjoyed my years at the ARB and am confident that the organisation is in good shape to contribute to the Government’s Periodic Review and the future regulation of architects.’

The Board will now start the process of appointing a new Registrar and Chief Executive, and an announcement about this will be made in due course.
