IHBC welcomes NPPF review by CLG Select Committee

IHBC Chair Mike Brown has welcomed the announcement that England’s National Planning Policy Framework (NPPF) will be reviewed by the Communities and Local Government (CLG) Select Committee.

Mike Brown said: ‘The proposed review is very timely, as we’ve now had a chance to see some of the operational issues bed in.  It’s going to be interesting to see too just how the whole system for managing historic, design and architectural interests in our places is bearing up – if at all – not only under the new policy framework, but also given the damage caused by the swingeing cuts to our local conservation services over the last few years.’

‘Heritage conservation and related design issues all have a very prominent place in the NPPF, and this will be an opportunity for us to find out if that remains the case on the ground.  And members may rest assured that we’ll be making our conclusions known to the committee very forcefully.’

‘With our Policy Secretary David Kincaid I will start one discussion on our Linkedin group, but there will be lots of opportunities for members and others to feed into our thinking.  Just keep an eye on our NewsBlogs news service and our home page.’
