IHBC Members with benefits: 4 reduced-rate places at NT’s ‘Plants and Buildings’ event – Tyntesfield, 2 Oct

Four lucky IHBC members are being offered reduced delegate rates of £60 each at the National Trust training event programme entitled ‘Managing Plants and Buildings’ to take place at Tyntesfield Sawmill on 2 October, and interested members should contact IHBC director Sean O’Reilly, at director@ihbc.org.uk, with their details as soon as possible.

The programme includes topics ranging from ‘Principles of Plants and Buildings’ to specific topics such as lichens, mosses and ivy as well as a site visit, in a programme scheduled for between 10.00 to 16.00.

The National trust writes:

This one-day course introduces Building Surveyors and others to the principles and management of plants and buildings.  You will have an opportunity to think about your local issues and feed these into what we cover during the day.  In the morning we will cover key issues and general principles.  Separate sessions will cover lichens, mosses and liverworts.  In the afternoon we will focus on woody plants, especially ivy, with sessions from internal and external experts.  A site visit will provide an opportunity to discuss plant issues in situ, and a Q&A followed by a summary session will give you a chance to reflect on the course contents and how you might address your own circumstances.’

Organisers and speakers in include National Trust staff Rory Cullen, Head of Buildings and IHBC member, David Bullock, Head of Nature Conservation and Guy Salkeld, Research Surveyor
