Honour IHBC members; nominate your unsung conservation hero

Nominations are currently being sought by the department of Culture Media and Sport (DCMS) for the Queen’s Birthday Honours 2014 list.

IHBC Projects Officer Fiona Newton said “So many more IHBC members work hard in their professional and voluntary life without credit.  With only around half of one percent of the IHBC membership having their work recognised through the honours system there must be many more people whose achievements deserve wider recognition. Without nominations being made our members will not get the recognition they deserve.”

“Honours recognise the achievements of ordinary people who do extraordinary things.  There are many people working hard behind the scenes, often in a voluntary capacity, who have given up huge amounts of time and energy over many years, and whose help and dedication has been crucial to the development, maintenance and promotion of the UK heritage and conservation sectors.  The efforts of these unsung heroes should be rewarded and celebrated” says Stephanie Lett of DCMS.

If you know of/are aware of colleagues who are making a real difference within your sector, then DCMS want to know about them.  You can download an honours nomination form at: LINK
