Thanks to Anna Maddox, Director of Youth United Foundation, Anisa Morridadi, founder of Beatfreeks, Andy Hall, Policy and Government Affairs Lead at The Careers & Enterprise Company, Destine Celipa Pinzi, Proud Places Ambassador at the Heritage of London Trust and Saria Elamin, Project Officer at UK Youth for taking part.
The historic environment is uniquely placed to foster belonging and pride in place for young people, as well as community cohesion. It can serve as an effective vehicle for empowering young people and building transferable employability skills.
We reach 600,000 school children a year through our successful Heritage Schools programme. Our survey of teachers taking part in the programme shows that 99% agree that local heritage improves pupils’ sense of place and 98% agree that it increases pupils’ sense of pride.
