IHBC at the AABC’s conference: All cream at the Custard Factory!

The Institute of Historic Building Conservation (IHBC) is delighted to help contribute to the Autumn Conference and Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the AABC (Architects Accredited in Building Conservation) as senior IHBC officers and consultants offer their experience on the theme of ‘Accreditation and regulation’, with the conference commencing at Birmingham’s Custard Factory on 10 October.

IHBC Director Sean O’Reilly said ‘The AABC’s Autumn Conference, on accreditation and regulation, is especially timely, as everyone is looking for ways to balance the needs of private clients with the wider public interest in our historic places. Accreditation should be the best way to tie quality conservation outcomes to professional standards through regulation.’

‘With a programme clearly ready to ‘say it like it is’, there’s going to be lots of interest. So best book early if you want to hear IHBC officers Bob Kindred, the keynote speaker, and David McDonald, our Education Secretary, as well as the editor of (and cartoonist for) the IHBC’s membership journal, Context, urban designer and skills specialist Rob Cowan, all helping cover topics from starchitecture and the heritage pandemonium to the withering of the public sector, topped off with a substantial case study of Birmingham Town Hall!’
