Membership of the Transition Advisory Board – which will provide constructive advice and support to the merger programme – has now been confirmed.
RCAHMS writes:
Chaired by the Scottish Government’s Director of Culture and Heritage Aileen McKechnie, the Board will consist of six non-executive members, as well as joint CEOS and SROs to the transition project Diana Murray and Ian Walford.
Four of the non-executive members have been drawn from the existing Historic Scotland Advisory Committee and the RCAHMS Commissioners. They are Paul Jardine and Gordon Masterton (Commissioners) and Eleanor McAllister and Andrew Wright (Advisors). They are joined by two new members who have been recruited specifically to sit on the Transition Advisory Board – Fiona Logan and Humphrey Welfare. ?The Board will meet approximately every two months to monitor progress of the Programme; review risks and costs; provide quality control; support corporate governance; and act as ambassadors for the transition to the new body.
Aileen McKechnie said: ‘I see the Board as being a critical friend to the process of creating one new body out of RCAHMS and Historic Scotland.’
The Transition Board will be a temporary arrangement until such time as a Chairman and Board can be formally appointed once the Bill, which it is hoped will be introduced in 2014, has passed its first stage. ?Additionally, it will not replace the Historic Scotland Advisory Committee or the RCAHMS Commissioners, both of which will continue to support their respective bodies in various ways.
