The IHBC’s 2013 Annual School, in Carlisle, explored the vast territory of skills in conservation, with delegates from as far afield as Brazil and Poland, and presentations, interrogations, exhibits, networking opportunities, displays, and on-site practical studies all part of an annual event that is now established as the UK’s primary forum for building and historic environment conservation specialists.
The School, which this year included a public Skills Fair held jointly with The National Heritage Training Group (NHTG), also formed the background to other key events in the IHBC’s calendar, including the Annual General Meeting and the Annual Dinner, at which winners in the IHBC’s 2012 Annual Gus Astley Student Award receive their prizes from the IHBC’s President.
The IHBC’s 2014 School will be in Edinburgh, World Heritage Site, Scottish capital and an exemplar in the history of heritage-led regeneration, from June 5-7, taking as it’s theme ‘The Art of Conservation’.
For the Carlisle School reports, keep an eye out for the IHBC’s September 2013 issue of our members’ journal Context, the UK’s leading publication for built and historic environment conservation specialists.
