Edward Impey, Director of Heritage Protection and Planning at English Heritage (EH) has circulated an update on the National Heritage Protection Plan (NHPP), its collective planning framework for England’s heritage sector, with a current call for input and review by the heritage and conservation sector before a closing date of 1 February.
Edward Impey writes:
I am delighted to let you know of several important developments of the National Heritage Protection Plan, all of which will be launched today. These include publication of a significantly revised version of the Plan, together with its latest progress report; the launch of our second annual consultation on the Plan’s priorities; a major enhancement of the NHPP pages on the English Heritage website and the release of a short and accessible introduction to the Plan.
We would like to gather your views on the National Heritage Protection Plan (NHPP) through our Second Annual Consultation Survey which is now open and will run until 1st February 2013.
The NHPP Progress Report covering the period April to September 2012 is now available on our website: the Overview provides a summary of overall progress, and the Activity Programme Report gives a detailed account of the projects and programmes.
During 2012, following our online consultation and discussions with the independent NHPP Advisory Board, English Heritage has revised the structure of the Plan to reflect more fully its role as a shared, sector-wide framework intended to promote collaborative effort. The Plan now comprises two documents: a Framework, which sets out the need, the framework and the overarching priorities of the Plan and the English Heritage Action Plan which provides a detailed summary of the objectives, methods, outputs and resource which EH itself is committing to the Plan between now and March 2015. We hope that the EH Action Plan will serve as a model for other Action Plans created by all kinds of heritage organisations.
In addition we have produced an illustrated ‘plain-English’ leaflet introducing the aims of the NHPP.
… I hope you will take the time to look at the latest developments, re-familiarise yourself with the Plan and let us have your views on its future direction. Please do join in: your views are very important to us!
