England’s Historic Environment Forum (HEF) is calling for contributions to new annual report on heritage sector resilience, to 19 June.
HEF writes:
The Historic Environment Forum (HEF) is inviting heritage organisations across England to contribute to a new annual report that will take stock of how the sector is working to strengthen its long-term resilience, and the role that collaboration and joined-up working are playing in that effort. The report sits alongside the Heritage Sector Resilience Plan 2025-35 (HSRP), HEF’s shared framework for building resilience across the heritage sector across four cornerstones: Physical Resilience, Workforce and Organisational Resilience, Relevance, and Financial Resilience. Findings will be published later this year in an annual digest, a short accessible publication that will share good practice and learning from across the sector, and make recommendations for where collective effort should be directed in the year ahead.
HEF is inviting contributions in two ways:
- Survey responses — a short survey of around 15 minutes is open to all heritage organisations, asking about their experience of resilience activities and collective action in 2025-26. No prior knowledge of or involvement with the HSRP is required to take part, and all insights are helpful in shaping this new report:
- Case studies — the report aims showcase a small selection of compelling case studies and examples of good practice. Organisations are invited to submit contributions for consideration across any of the four cornerstones of the HSRP. The Forum is particularly interested in work aimed at building resilience, capacity, or long-term sustainability that has been either delivered collaboratively with partners, or independently with shared sector outcomes in mind. Partial results and early signs of progress are as welcome as completed programmes.
Both the survey and case study call close at 5pm on Friday 19 June 2026.
