IHBC Director Seán O’Reilly said: ‘Our officers and consultants have put lots of work into refining and improving one of our most prestigious publications.  It should be said too that this work also substantially reduces the cost to us of this free, open access and sector-wide service.’

‘I’m delighted that in this first sortie in the new style it has so much to offer, and even more delighted to thank those involved for their hard work in helping make this new format so engaging.’

‘And whether you are mostly a CPD provider or  a user, all – including the ‘Director’s Spotlight’ can help streamline your CPD planning. So please do take a look right across the new copy, from stylish format to the Terms and Conditions, and off your feedback to us HERE!’

IHBC Virtual Council – Wednesday 8 April
FREE member-led Council CPD

IHBC President’s ‘Members only’ Invitation to next Virtual Council: Online, 8 April 2026, from 4.30pm – Scoping ‘Investigation’ of conservation in local government, with a call for suggestions etc.

IHBC members should have received their invitation from our President, Rebecca Thompson, to join in our new-style and ‘members-only’ online Council from 4.30pm on 8 April, when, as well as Charters & much more, we start to ‘investigate conservation roles and services in local government’ – part of our 3rd Parliamentary Commitment.

IHBC President Rebecca Thompson writes:  Please do join us at our next virtual IHBC Council, on Wednesday 8 April from c.4.30pm for more of our exclusive, unique and member-led Council CPD.

This Council sees the opening of our response to the 3rd of our Parliamentary ‘5 Commitments to Help Heritage Skills in Conservation…’ presented in Westminster last November.  It opens our ‘investigation’ of heritage management in regulatory contexts, starting with a light-touch scoping of issues around local Conservation Officers and Services across the UK.  Some 5 or so short, member-led presentations on topical issues will frame our initial planning and future investigations, all also informed by your contributions online and apart.

For this April Council too there are even more opportunities for updates, queries and discussions.  As members, you can help shape the debate and content in advance through the ‘Suggestions Form’ linked below, as we call on you to tell us what you want to hear about or explore, whether as advice, thoughts or guidance, both for this Council and for the future!
