IHBC Chair David McDonald said: ‘I’m pleased to welcome this next stage of our MATE sessions. Having attended and assisted with previous events, I can testify to their value in ‘demystifying’ IHBC accreditation.

‘And we’re really delighted progress this ‘piloting’ stage in the streamlining of our accreditation application forms, while also taking feedback ‘from the coal face’ as we guide applicants through our unique assessment processes.’

‘These and wider developments in our support for IHBC accreditation will help extend the IHBC’s reach, networks, profile and impacts, all especially as we break new ground for your Institute.’

IHBC Membership Secretary Andrew Shepherd said: ‘Our Membership and Ethics Committee has been working hard to refine, and clarify the accreditation forms, and these MATEs are a great chance for ALL members to feed into the process.’

‘As we extend the exercise into 2025, our MATE sessions will not only guide applicants on accreditation, but also welcome our accredited members (Full, Associate and Retired).  As well as offering critical CPD updates, our accredited members will enhance this part of the process by contributing their own personal skills, knowledge and experience.’

IHBC Director Seán O’Reilly said: ‘Refined forms for applicants are the headline focus of the IHBC’s evolving MATE service.  However we’ll also include and review extended guidance and resources.  Alongside all that, we are also developing our pool of MATE session options for Branches and other users.  This centres on developing a suite of quality-assured – and paid –  MATE session leads: surely one of the best and most satisfying roles in the sector!’

‘As anyone leading a MATE session needs to be in command of some very specific skills – not least our enhanced guidance – these events are a critical next step, even for the most experienced applicants.’

‘So, while our MATEs will guide those seeking accreditation as Conservation Professionals, we’re also keen to have all members engage, while we’ll continue this new and free format for as long as its adding value.’

‘We also plan to re-start options for fee-based attendance for in-person MATEs targeting specific user groups or business interests, so if you would like to explore plans for sessions with colleagues in your office or discipline, keen an eye on our NewsBlogs news service, as we’ll announce our plans for those in the Autumn.’

IHBC’s Operations Director Fiona Newton said: ‘The IHBC’s new round of MATE sessions offers free places at our 2-hour online accreditation guidance and update sessions, all available on a ‘first come’ basis to ALL categories of membership.’

‘It’s worth remembering too that CPD certificates available for completion, especially as we are sending our call for CPD forms in the coming weeks’.

‘For early career and emerging Conservation Professionals, we’d urge you to look to our Affiliate application support programme first, as that offers an essential Affiliate or ‘Pre-MATE’ grounding in our processes and standards.’
