Euro Manifestos: conservation and heritage analysis by SCT launched

IHBC Director Seán O’Reilly has welcomed the launch of the analysis by the Scottish Civic Trust (SCT) of the Party Manifestos for the European elections.  Dr O’Reilly said ‘We need more of this conservation-focussed scrutiny.  It’s not only about the future of our valued places.  Given the role good place management has in minimising climate change through reducing carbon emissions, we ought to pay as much attention to their policies as to their expenses’.

Terry Levinthal, SCT  Director, said ’the methodology is straightforward but proven: we search through PDF versions of the manifestos using key words. The results are sorted by subject, simplifying the  comparisons. The statements included in this briefing note were cut and pasted into the document – no editing of content was undertaken’.
