IHBC Chair David McDonald has notified all members of the IHBC of the details of the IHBC’s 2025 AGM, to take place online on Tuesday 13 May at 6pm – including those standing down – with the full programme starting at 5.30pm, so if you have not received your notice, check your email trash first, and contact IHBC Company Secretary Lydia Porter at admin@ihbc.org.uk as needed.
David McDonald writes:
… our 2025 AGM… will take place online, ‘virtually’, on Tuesday 13 May 2024 at 6pm, with the full programme starting at 5.30pm. In line with our new Articles, business will include:
- The consideration of the accounts, balance sheets, reports of the Board (including the annual report) and auditors;
- The retirement, appointment or re-appointment of Directors, our Trustees
- The appointment of the auditors, and
- Elections to the Board, under our new Articles, as discussed below.
This is also the formal notice of those members of the board currently retiring from their roles: Joanna Evans (IHBC Secretary), Anna Grant (Trustee for Scotland), with Anna’s replacement, Shona Simpson, now nominated for appointment at the AGM by the Scotland Branch, in line with our Articles.
As the AGM is a critical moment in our cycle of governance, all members of any category are of course encouraged to attend.
Further details of the 2025 AGM will be notified to members in our forthcoming digital suite of AGM Papers, and will include the ‘Trustees’ report’ for the financial year 2022-23 – as the next report due for members – while also updating on current operations.
AGM Elections
Among other business matters at the AGM, our accredited members – that is Associates, Full Members and Retired – will elect new members of our Board of Trustees. Formal roles and posts are open to accredited members only, and subject to the timely receipt of nominations by the closing date of 2 April.
There is more background on how to prepare for nomination and service as Trustee on our NewsBlog guidance HERE.
Nominations
Nominations are always sought for vacant posts, especially to address current gaps, early and mid-career; diversity; fundraising or marketing experience. This year there is currently only one post open, as noted above, as other trustees are continuing in their current roles. However Trustees remain available to help in the ongoing induction of prospective successors.
If you are interested in a Board role we would encourage you to contact the most relevant officer, Trustee or postholder to find out more. If you are unsure please contact Lydia Porter, our Company Secretary, at admin@ihbc.org.uk.
Please also note that a nominee for election as IHBC trustee at the AGM must be accredited by IHBC, either as an IHBC Associate, Full Member or Retired Member.
While IHBC members of all categories are always encouraged to attend the AGM – with IHBC CPD certificates on offer too, to reflect the status of the business – only accredited members (Full, Associate and Retired) are entitled to vote.
Voting by proxy is always recommended, to save both administrative costs and address potential technical issues on the day, while more information will be sent on voting when the detailed agenda is confirmed.
So please be sure to extend your engagement with the modern IHBC and, if you can, please join us from 5.30pm on Tuesday 13 May.
