HES welcomes grant in aid funding from the Scottish Government

edinburgh viewHistoric Environment Scotland (HES) has welcomed grant in aid funding of £74.2 million as part of the Scottish Government’s 2024-2025 Budget.

HES writes:

The grant in aid funding for 2024-25 is an increase of £1.5m from the 2023-24 budget. Grant in aid funding forms one part of HES’ budget, with the remainder coming from commercial income which is continuing to show strong recovery following the impact of COVID.

The confirmation of the budget allocation will support skills and jobs and help HES to prioritise activities for the next financial year through its Annual Operating Plan and continue to make a positive contribution and impact on Scotland’s key national outcomes.

HES looks after over 300 historic properties, and their associated collections across Scotland on behalf of Scottish Ministers, as well as providing outreach, educational and cultural activities. The organisation also provides a core statutory and regulatory function in Scotland’s planning system.
