At the CLG Select Committee on the draft National Planning Policy Framework (NPPF) RTPI revealed that, following a Freedom of Information (FOI) request, HM Treasury has reported officially that ‘after a search of our records HM Treasury does not hold any recorded information in the scope of your request’.

Asked for a view on the £3bn cost of delays repeatedly used by ministers, the RTPI revealed a Freedom of Information (FOI) request about claims that planning costs were amongst the highest in the world had dramatically revealed that ‘after a search of our records HM Treasury does not hold any recorded information in the scope of your request’ and referred to information on the cost of delays going back to 1992.

The wide ranging session also covered whether the NPPF should have a spatial dimension, neighbourhood planning, and the benefits of planning.
