Wales Construction Federation Alliance update

The Construction Trade Federations in Wales are organising themselves to ensure that their collective voice can be heard loud and clear at the table of the decision makers, policy drivers and the strategy developers in Wales in the future.

The building and civil engineering sectors within the construction industry are coming together on matters of mutual interest to deliver the views and aspirations of their member companies in areas of social, economic and environmental relevance.

The Federation of Master Builders, the National Federation of Builders, the Home Builders Federation, all representing the building interests, and the Civil Engineering Contractors Association Wales, are committed to the signing of a “Memorandum of Understanding” that should facilitate good communication between one another, and develop cooperation across a range of areas.

The group when acting collectively will be called “The Wales Construction Federation Alliance” (the WCFA). None of the intended collaborative activity will impact on the individual standing of each federation, and there is no intention to create legal obligations between the parties.

The initial tasks include the collation of activities being undertaken by each federation and the establishment of a series of agreed position statements on various subject areas.

The future will inevitably be challenging for the construction industry between now and 2015, but the Alliance is confident that it can and will make a difference to the fate of the industry in the coming months and years.

A formal launch of “The Wales Construction Federation Alliance” is envisaged in the summer, including the signing of the “Memorandum of Understanding” by the parties involved.

The parties are committed to being a credible group within the construction industry and as such will give consideration to other bodies joining the Alliance where they have relevance to the industry.  Please contact the following for further information:
