IHBC and partners help empower local authorities

The Prince’s Regeneration Trust, The Institute of Historic Building Conservation and The Civic Trust for Wales, have joined forces to tackle the backlog of buildings at risk in Wales. They are holding a conference to highlight the key opportunities and best practice for saving Wales’ historic buildings that are currently in a state of disrepair and dereliction. The conference, Recycling Historic Buildings: Empowering Local Authorities and Communities will be held at the St. George’s Hotel, Llandudno on Thursday 26th March, 9:30am – 4:40pm. The Heritage Minister for Wales, Alun Ffred Jones AM will deliver a keynote address.

The conference is aimed at local authority officers and members as well as other people from the professions who work in heritage and regeneration. As well as enhancing the capacity of local authorities to play a pro-active and effective role in conserving heritage and encouraging heritage-led regeneration, the conference organisers – with their long history of work in this field – will use the event to show the benefits to be gained by more collaboration between local authorities and the third sector.

Places for the conference are £95 plus VAT per person. The full programme for the conference and online booking are available at www.llandudno2009.ihbc.org.uk
