IHBC Joins National Planning Forum

The IHBC, the professional body for historic environment conservation specialists, has been invited to join the National Planning Forum, the principal cross-sectoral voice on planning issues in England. The IHBC will sit alongside a wide range of government, business, academic and 3rd sector bodies with related planning interests.

IHBC Chair Dave Chetwyn will represent the IHBC on the Forum, a role he played previously on behalf of Planning Aid. Mr Chetwyn said ‘This will allow IHBC to contribute to current debates on planning at national level. In particular, IHBC can provide a cross-discipline perspective and help to ensure that place-making considerations are properly integrated with strategic planning issues.’

Dr Seán O’Reilly, IHBC Director, said ‘It is a real privilege to have the importance of the work of our members, and our organisation, formally recognised at this level. By helping shape the management of our valued places, our presence on the NPF will make the work of our own members that little bit easier, helping secure better quality places for all.’

The National Planning Forum aims to be recognised as a key agent for change in delivering a better planning service. The NPF aspires to “inspire planning” and all those involved in the planning process and in delivering the new planning agenda.
