Jo Evans, Chair of the Institute of Historic Building Conservation (IHBC), today welcomed the Institute’s sponsorship of the 2010 Planning Summer School, one of the major events in the diaries of England’s planners and elected members.
Jo Evans said: ‘The IHBC’s joint sponsorship of the School shows just how far the Institute has come in moving specialist conservation services on to the centre stage of planning interests. Not only are we sitting alongside other sponsoring organisations such as English Heritage and CABE but, as well as highlighting our membership benefits, we’re promoting the services of our private sector members through our HESPR scheme and re-affirming our long-standing support for the conservation and planning processes in local government.’
She continued: ‘Conservation is rightly being given a prominent role in providing answers to the School’s theme of ‘planning to live within our means’. Our sponsorship provides a perfect opportunity for the IHBC to reach across key players in planning delivery, helping provide better futures for our valued places.’
‘I’ll not be able to go along to the School myself, but I know that IHBC members attending will be more than able to promote the IHBC as the voice of professional conservation.’
The IHBC is a gold sponsor for the Planning Summer School, and will circulate information on the Institute’s membership, operations and services to delegates at the professional and the elected members Schools. IHBC’s operations include supporting its professional membership, extensive conservation advocacy, as well as the IHBC’s own listing of recommended private practices, HESPR (Historic Environment Service Providers Recognition Scheme).
