Stoke-on-Trent City Council set to invest another £650,000 into the restoration project to turn Wedgwood Institute into new enterprise.

Council leaders are set to spend another £650,000 to help bring one of Stoke-on-Trent’s most important historic buildings back into use. Stoke-on-Trent City Council is working with the UK Historic Building Preservation Trust (UKHBPT) to turn the Grade II*-listed Wedgwood Institute in Burslem into the Potteries’ newest enterprise business centre.
The project is set to cost more than £5 million, with the rest of the funding coming from the Heritage Lottery Fund, the EU and other sources. This is in addition to the £811,110 already spent on emergency repairs on the building, including £192,000 from the city council.
UKHBPT, a subsidiary of the Prince’s Regeneration Trust, was originally going to run the Queen Street building on an ongoing basis following the restoration.
