In his article titled Playing for extra time, Wood discusses ‘topophilia’, the emotional and subjective attachment to cherished places through the shared enjoyment of memory, nostalgia and the power of association. Topophilia is especially acute in relation to football grounds, such as Arsenal’s former ground Highbury.
