The Department for Culture, Media and Sport is looking for seven new trustees, especially those with skills in facilitating communication and knowledge of the artistic and cultural landscape (closing date 1 February 2017).
The criteria applicable to all seven appointments are:
- have an understanding of and interest in the aims and objectives of Theatres Trust as the national advisory public body for theatres
- be able to facilitate communication between the Theatres Trust, Government Ministers, the UK Parliament and the devolved administrations
- have an understanding of and commitment to artistic and cultural landscape
- be an advocate for Theatres Trust with an ability to actively promote its work to wider networks
- be committed to promoting cultural diversity and equality.
Candidates should also have ability in one or more of the following areas:
- planning lawyer with familiarity of the processes affecting the heritage and culture sectors
- involvement in theatres as a theatre owner or operator
- performer or creative team professional with an excellent public and industry profile
- experienced fundraiser and advocate especially within the cultural and theatre sectors
- financial and business, which might include audit, investment/venture capital or charity governance expertise.
Candidates must be able to demonstrate a clear understanding of any potential for conflicts of interest between the public role and their own professional activity, and can propose ways to manage such a conflict if it arose.
