
Bursaries for the IHBC’s 2026 Annual School on ‘Adaptive Reuse’, in Newcastle from 18-20 June, are now open, offering some of the most accessible and essential learning & CPD on how old and new fabric and places can best work together.

Bob Kindred MBE – IHBC’s lead on bursaries – said: ‘Remember to please get your application in promptly, AND that a decision won’t be made until shortly after 13th April once applications have closed.’
IHBC Director Sean O’Reilly said: ‘When it comes to IHBC’s special conservation and heritage CPD there’s lots of help out there, so funds are not necessarily a barrier, especially with our bursaries to help’.
‘So if you do need help, please don’t miss this unique chance build your future career and learn more about the complex and challenging issues for heritage and conservation as you build new networks.’
‘And don’t forget that some IHBC Branches offer bursaries as well.’
‘And if you are not an IHBC member already, you can always strengthen your case for bursary support by joining us now. And if you are on ‘no wage’ or ‘low wage’, you can also get up to a 100% reduction in fees provided you take the time and effort and make your case, with details HERE!’

The IHBC, as a charity, offers Bursaries for the Newcastle 2026 School, which are supported by the IHBC’s CREATIVE Conservation Fund.
As usual, these are allocated on the basis of personal statements of relevance and need. An initial closing date of 13 April may be extended if any bursaries are not allocated.
How it works:
Each bursary applicant may ask for either:
- A bursary that includes a Residential Full School delegate place, from Thursday to Saturday, with up to £100 towards travel expenses (receipts required)
AND/OR
- A bursary that includes a Day School delegate place and up to £100 towards travel and accommodation expenses (receipts required).

Please remember that the IHBC reserves the right NOT TO AWARD bursaries if applications do not clearly demonstrate a suitable need or benefit.
The IHBC National charity does not offer bursaries for delegates attending online. Some IHBC Branches offer bursaries and/or other support. Please contact your local Branch for information.
