Lord Prior of Brampton replaces Jesse Norman, who has become energy minister after just six months in the construction role.
Lord Prior’s Parliamentary Under Secretary of State responsibilities include:
- industrial strategy
- industrial policy (with the Minister of State for Climate Change and Industry) including technology, infrastructure/construction, professional services, rail supply chain, defence and maritime
- Land Registry
- Ordnance Survey.
Lord Prior of Brampton was appointed Parliamentary Under Secretary of State at the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy on 21 December 2016. Previously, he served at the Department of Health as Minister for NHS Productivity from May 2015 until December 2016. He is a Conservative member of the House of Lords.
Outside of politics, Lord Prior’s roles include Chairman of the Care Quality Commission, an associate with Lehman Brothers, a senior executive with British Steel and he has managed a number of private companies, mainly in manufacturing and engineering.
