The 10 awards include the overall Best Entry for 2016 for the transformation of the disused Kings Cross Midland Goods Shed complex.
Started in 1979, the National Railway Heritage Awards (NRHA) aim to encourage high standards of restoration of buildings, structures and signalling installations, and their environmental care. It promotes public recognition and awareness of the historic railway and tramway heritage.
The winners include:
- NRHA Award for the overall Best Entry for 2016 – Kier Construction & Kings Cross Partnership– transformation of the disused Kings Cross Midland Goods Shed complex
- Taylor Woodrow Partnership Award – thePort of Dover – conservation of the former Dover Marine Station Building
- Great Western Railway Craft Skills Award – London Underground– the removal, conservation and reinstatement of the Paolozzi mural mosaics at its Tottenham Court Road Station
- Urban Heritage Award – Merseyrail Electrics 2002 Ltd – imaginative work at its busy James Street Station in Liverpool.
- Contractors Award– Iarnrod Eireann – refurbishment and strengthening of the Boyne Viaduct at Drogheda
- London Underground Operational Enhancement Award– Virgin Trains – work to bring back to life the neglected West Side Buildings at Stoke-on-Trent Station.
