24 cathedrals have been provided funds from the First World War Centenary Cathedral Repairs Fund.
Awards range from £500,000 to Manchester cathedral for emergency tower repairs to £20,000 for West front glazing and masonry repairs at Arundal.
Decisions on funding allocations were taken by an expert panel that considered the grant applications against the published criteria for the scheme and decided which cathedrals should receive funding. It was chaired by Sir Paul Ruddock and included senior figures from English Heritage, the Heritage Lottery Fund, the Church of England and the Catholic Church, as well as church architects, architectural historians and grant giving experts.
