IHBC Annual School- Day School Digital Storytelling

Storify Part 1‘Digital highlights’ from the IHBC Annual School at Norwich are revealed in this week’s newsblogs, with the social media posts of conference delegates and attendees telling the story of the day school

The day school included a packed programme of speakers, as well as an exhibition area.  The two part Storify features audio interviews with Kate Clark (chief executive of CADW) as well as tweets and photographs of the day. Part 1 is released this week and part 2 will be released shortly.

One of the exhibitors, Karen Morrissey of Karen Morrissey Paint Research wrote a short post about why she chose to exhibit and how she found the day:

‘We chose to exhibit at the Norwich Day School because we wanted to reach out to the IHBC network in promoting the benefits of using architectural paint research in the conservation of diversity of place.

Our core practice is architectural paint research, which is a very useful tool in exploring how cultural change has influenced the development of our architectural heritage.  We undertake careful assessment of documentary evidence, paint archaeology and the recollections of the local community. From this, we piece together how the layers of decoration reflect the changing fashions, economy, social dynamics, skills base and technologies that have defined a heritage asset’s history.

We work with conservation professionals and communities to find solutions that will preserve not only the fabric of the heritage asset but its cultural significance for future generations.’

The Day School was followed by the AGM, annual dinner and announcement of Gus Astley award winners.

Thanks again to all of our digital storytelling volunteers for all of your tweets, blogs, videos and photographs.
