‘Collaborative Centre for Cultural Value’ – funding from AHRC & more
The Arts and Humanities Research Council (AHRC) has announced that funding is to be made available to establish a collaborative Centre for Cultural Value, to advance understanding of the value of arts and culture in the UK and abroad, looking at the wider impacts of arts and culture can bring.

Nominations open for Ecclesiastical’s Heritage Heroes Award: Closing 30 Sept
Ecclesiastical’s Heritage Heroes Award for 2018 is now open to nominations that mark ‘significant achievement in the heritage sector’ or ‘outstanding individual contribution to heritage over a period of years’, with nominations closing on 30 September.

IHBC’s 2018 Member survey: Feedback, update and forward plans for ‘CP25’
On 12 April 2018 IHBC trustees reviewed the resoundingly positive results from the most recent Member Survey – with headline endorsements including 92% of members satisfied or very satisfied with services, and 94% likely or very likely to recommend IHBC membership – and agreed both the strategy for the IHBC’s next Corporate Plan ‘CP25’ and forward plans to ensure that the IHBC remains fit for purpose as ‘The home of the conservation professional’.

ghways England (HE) and Historic England (HE) report on two linked items of heritage news in the North East of England, as the listing of
Tyne Bridge in Newcastle has been upgraded to Grade II*, while the North East’s first triple-decker roundabout (on the A19) has been marked by the placing of a time capsule highlighting 2018 life.

London launches plan to become ‘world’s most walkable city’
London plans to become the ‘world’s most walkable city’ under a new plan unveiled by the capital’s first-ever walking and cycling commissioner, with its ‘Walking Action Plan – which is being supported by Public Health England – aiming to encourage a million additional walking trips each day by 2024.

AHF funding for Glasgow communities to ‘reclaim and regenerate heritage’
Three community projects in Glasgow will benefit from recent grants offered by the Architectural Heritage Fund (AHF), including the ‘Pyramid at Anderston’, a new social enterprise delivering programmes from Glasgow’s iconic Pyramid Church, as well as funds to support the ongoing renewal of Govanhill Baths.

New Context out, with a new angle: ‘Theory to Practice and back again!

IHBC CPD Boost: Consultation- who and how?

Plans for increase in ‘Garden Towns’ in England: But concerns raised on places as well as semantics!
England’s Communities Secretary has called for an increase in so called ‘garden towns’ in England, aiming to construct 300,000 homes a year by the mid-2020s, but the plans have been criticised by CPRE, which questions the use of the term ‘garden’, relating it back to the original vision of Ebenezer Howard.
