IHBC ‘Jobs etc’ for 7/8 Nov: Annual salaries @ c.£0.5m+

The IHBC’s highly respected ‘Jobs etc’ resource for the week ending 7 November is advertising posts with combined annual salaries conservatively estimated at £519,798, a strong indication of the healthy interest in employing appropriately skilled practitioners in conservation and related roles across the built and historic environment.

IHBC Director Sean O’Reilly said: ‘It is great for IHBC members to see these jobs notices arriving so regularly in their email inboxes – a service we offer all our members.  It also shows just how much more emphasis is being placed on getting the right skills – not least conservation skills accredited by the IHBC – into the right parts of heritage management and wider development processes. ‘

‘Each one of these notices represent a little bit of good news to brighten a sector still harshly sidelined by government and so many of its policy leaders.  Altogether these jobs are a reminder of just how important our sector is to the nation’s economy.  Fortunately practitioners on the ground seem to understand that reality much better than the bureaucrats!’

‘With the development of the IHBC’s new Associate category of accredited membership, which tests practitioners’ conservation skills in their primary discipline, the IHBC’s ‘Jobs etc’ will be able to offer employers and clients even better access to skilled practitioners.’

‘Associate membership also serves as a ‘stepping stone’ for those many practitioners increasingly looking to secure full membership of the IHBC, so we will build that into both our listing of accredited members as well as our directory of conservation businesses linked to IHBC’s standards, HESPR.’

Joanna Theobald, the IHBC’s ‘Jobs etc’ website manager said: ‘Our continuing success here demonstrates that those managers, employers and clients who care about reaching the best candidates can see the value of the IHBC’s ‘Jobs etc’ service.  And it’s not only for jobs, but it advertises trustee posts, bursaries and contract opportunities too.’

‘And don’t forget that the service also adds transparency and credibility to appointments, which is especially important to the credibility of charities.  And the value is even better too, as we also offer substantial reductions to third sector bodies. As a charity ourselves, we know just how important it is to look at costs all the time, but that should never be at the expense of core values’.

NOTE: Calculations here are based on a sum total at the date indicated of lowest advertised salaries OR standard average salaries for senior posts (£27,5000) or low-wage threshold (£17,500) for junior posts, including pro rata estimates.  As such total calculations are a conservative estimate.
