THA ‘Giving to Heritage’ scheme wins HLF funding

The Heritage Alliance (THA) has been awarded half a million pounds by the Heritage Lottery Fund under the Catalyst Umbrella programme for a two year project to support local heritage and community groups in learning fundraising skills.

THA writes:
Giving to Heritage will focus on the people and organisations responsible for raising funds to conserve or adapt heritage assets of all kinds and for associated social and educational projects. In partnership with leading training provider the Institute of Fundraising, the three-year project will develop fundraising skills in tune with the new financial landscape. Through a suite of small scale high quality training resources amounting to 8500 opportunities throughout England, Giving to Heritage will build capacity and capabilities to access public funding successfully and also to attract private donations as well as corporate sponsorship, using a range of different techniques and approaches.

Loyd Grossman, Chairman of The Heritage Alliance, said: ‘We have a magnificent product and a formidable passion for heritage but there has never been a greater need to translate that passion into financial commitment. It is time to raise our game and to be confident about attracting investment. The Heritage Alliance’s unsurpassed access to the heritage community and the cutting edge expertise of the Institute of Fundraising make this the perfect partnership’.
